Success is becoming a habit. Once again, CREW Iowa had a banner year in 2018. Goals that were tagged as stretch goals were accomplished with time to spare. During the 2018 Strategic Planning session, there was much discussion about what was the sustainable size of CREW Iowa. Des Moines is a small metro and there are many competing organizations, both real estate focused and otherwise. Applications continued to be submitted and CREW Iowa will end the year with over 115 members.
But the only measurement of success isn’t the number of members. Steady and committed sponsors and the addition of new sponsors demonstrate that real estate businesses in Des Moines value CREW Iowa. Attendance at CREW Iowa events continues to be strong at both member-only events as well as events that are open to non-members. Quality member-only events are critical to retain members and our programming and events committee do an exceptional job finding and booking excellent speakers.
So what is next? I am so excited about the bench strength of the CREW Iowa board and membership. I have seen the board and membership step up and assume leadership roles too many times to count. I look forward to shifting my role to that of Past President and watching what great things unfold. I am also energized by the creation of the new Outreach and Education Committee. Instead of reinventing the wheel, CREW Iowa has plugged into existing organizations and programs to educate middle school and high school girls about careers in real estate. With a free standing committee, CREW Iowa will be able to focus on this important goal by committing more time and person power!
Thanks to a wonderful 2018! Here’s to an even better 2019!
